The Ethiopian Free and Open Source Software network(EFOSSNet) is a non-governmental firm established
by a group of interested individuals at the meeting held on January 24, 2005 at ECA under the theme
"the National Consultative Workshop on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)."
Vision
To see FOSS contribute its share for the development of Ethiopia.
Mission
To create an environment that FOSS is utilised to enable
better use of ICT for the sustainable development of the
country.To accomplish its mission, EFOSSNet is committed
to the following key results:

FOSS Research and Development: To understand the
optimal utilisation of FOSS through conducting
appropriate research and ensuring continuous improvement
by establishing sub-networks of youth, developers and
user and policy makers.

FOSS IEC (Information, Education and Communication):
To introduce FOSS to ICT users and policy makers in
the country through training and awareness creation
programmes in partnership with private sector,
government, non-government organisations and educational
institutions at all levels.
